Forecasting Club

  • The Darden Forecasting Club

Making decisions in the face of uncertainty is vital and often challenging task for businesses, governments, and other organizations. The Darden Forecasting Club offers students the opportunity to study the art and science of prediction. By harnessing the wisdom of a crowd of Darden students, the DFC attempts to forecast world events and identifies strategies that companies can use to improve their own internal forecasting practices.

Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs. The University does not direct, supervise or control the organization and is not responsible for the organization’s contracts, acts or omissions.

The Darden Forecasting Club hosts a variety of forecasting competitions throughout the year. Participants use their own knowledge and analysis on a range of subjects to compete, tracking their performance over time to improve their skills. In addition, the DFC hosts seminars and speakers on topics related to forecasting and data science.
